a little romancing

…is all a girl wants sometimes. That being said, I’ll be girl in the corner trying to be discreet taking myself on a date amongst a sea of lovers at Movies Under The Moon. We saw a sign for this event, at Sugarland Town Square; I suggested to my friends they go with their significant other… I love things like this, and any couple that is willing to forget about the heat, humidity, and mosquitos for a couple hours of romantic cuteness is solid in my eyes…ummmm anyway…this is such an awkward post lol

here is some Otis Redding to get yall in the mood

Vintage Virgin

This stylish gal is representing Houston in a big way…as a fellow vintage/thrift enthusiast I truly appreciate her style and love seeing what beautiful outfit she can dream up next. What I love about her the most her versatility; she can jump from one style to another or one era to another without ever losing the essence of her style. Props to you Vintage Virgin!

Here is one of my favorite looks…see details on this look and much more @ msvintagevirgin.blogspot.com

It’s day 3 or 4 of rain here in Houston, with more rain coming for us through the weekend… Hoorah. -_-

…I have a love hate relationship with rainy weather, I love the sound, the smell, the way it makes you want to snuggle up and watch some really good movie with some really good company. However, as my cousin put it today, “it’s fatass weather” because you really don’t want to go anywhere or do anything. Seeing as I lack a gym membership, and I can’t use the park to run, I am stuck. So today I went to the Galleria to kill some time and look at pretty things. I met the coolest lady ever, she collects high end sneakers, high tops preferably. She said she has about 400 pairs in her collection! I got her card; also she is an avid animal activist and a sales rep for her boyfriend’s animal themed jewelry line. I think I will have to check the jewelry and her shoe collection out. While in the shoe department at Neiman Marcus, I saw these babies, who were just dying to come home with me, and if this rainy weather persists, I think they just might have to…

Givenchy Rubber Rain Boots

so in the better interest of my wallet and my waistline, let’s hope the rain dries up, and lets me get back to running in the park again… I don’t think any change in the weather could make me stop wanting these boots though.

Niki de Saint Phalle

I went to the Menil today and saw this artist’s work in one of the exhibits. There was a short film of her shooting her paintings, it was pretty entrancing to hear her speak about her art, watch her destroy and all the while create.

New York Times does Htown

I was on a plane recently with a gentleman from Los Angeles, though the plane was taking me home to Houston, it was merely a pit stop for him on his way to Belize. He asked me what there was to do in Houston, really I didn’t know how to answer him, tourism isn’t really a huge part of the city.  I simply replied “I enjoy living here, but if I didn’t live here, I don’t think I would come as a tourist.”  Well to Mr. Belize-bound here is a terrific article highlighting Houston’s not-so-boring side.

Local talent

Andrew Benavides likes Selena, Hot cheetos, Michelob Ultra, and is a downright cool guy. He also happens to be quite good with a video camera. Making Houston proud.

Here is his latest work, “Just another day”

Want want want

Halloween was nuts, went to monthly Top Notch party at boondocks, got there pretty early, as I anticipated it was gonna be crazy packed, I did not anticipate how packed it really got. Over 2,000 showed up to celebrate. It was super fun, but I could barely keep my eyes open on the drive home I was so tired from all those disco spins I was doing. Ugh and I didn’t even get one good picture of my outfit. Oh well, there is always next time. Anyway I can’t believe it is already November, this year has just flown by. I think that means I am getting old. The holidays are right around the corner, and although that means more crazies at work than usual and spending lots of money on gifts, I also hope that means, lots of dope gift getting as well. I think I will start my wishlisting now.

I have these amazing vintage loafers by some brand called “Nickels” I love them, they look like old lady/old man shoes but in the classiest way possible. However, I have been yearning for a pair of Stubbs & Wooton loafers but they can be quite pricey, I just discovered the “bespoke” option on their website and here are a few of the design combinations I came up with
