Real men wear Red Wings

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a fascinating man yesterday at work. He looked a little like Chong and walked in with two woven Mexican bags full of items to sell to the store. Little did I know my world was about to be rocked by the vintage treasures in those bags. 70′s flowy hippie dresses, 80′s riding boots, beautiful leather pieces…ahhhh I died a little inside. Now, not only did he bring us some amazing treasures, but his personal style was pretty amazing as well. This guy knows his vintage, he wore a basic black tee, with torn up vintage levis, and the most perfectly worn in pair of Red Wing Chukka boots, which he said were from 1976(!), oh and he had a badass silver apache head ring with jeweled eyes. It was one of the most perfect ensembles I had seen on a man in a long time. Were he single and 25 years younger, I would have been all over that LOL! Seriously though, I now implore all the men out there to go out there and get your own pair of Red Wing Chukkas (you need a good chukka in your life anyway) and wear them until every millimeter of that shoe has an amazing story to tell.

Thank you.

Acquisitions

So, I wasn’t going to post this but Juan Car was teasing me and I am going to go ahead and let him indulge. I get excited about my acquisitions, so I decided to have some fun with my new hat. Vintage  ”Mr. K” perfect shade of seafoam/mint/jade green hat from Buffalo Exchange. Looks nice with my fresh manicure. Having my nails neat and painted make me feel extra ladylike…and big props to my mom for getting me the ring in the photo. it’s pretty amazing and goes with everything. I love it. you can’t tell but its gold wire wrapped all over the band and the setting, sooo dope.

Vintage Virgin

This stylish gal is representing Houston in a big way…as a fellow vintage/thrift enthusiast I truly appreciate her style and love seeing what beautiful outfit she can dream up next. What I love about her the most her versatility; she can jump from one style to another or one era to another without ever losing the essence of her style. Props to you Vintage Virgin!

Here is one of my favorite looks…see details on this look and much more @ msvintagevirgin.blogspot.com

The Titty Turban

To all my busty babes out there. I have found the strapless bathing suit top for you.

Behold, The titty turban

Vintage bandeau top. High waisted polka dot bottoms from Victoria’s secret. This bathing suit originally came with a demi cup top…HAHAHA! I may as well not have a top on at all, no support whatsoever. The vintage top fits so much better!

James Spanfeller

(I realize the photo is backwards but this is what happens when you use photobooth for pictures, get over it)

I guess it makes me shallow, but I bought this book for the cover, and also because I know Thoreau is a good author…but mostly for the cover art. This version of the book was published in 1962 and the artist who did the artwork is James Spanfeller. I get these random moments of craziness in which I find something I like, become completely engulfed in it and want to find out anything and everything I can about it. Most of the time, I don’t get very far :/ Still I managed to find a few more works by Mr. Spanfeller.

Can someone tell me what this style of art is? I dig it. I have some playing cards with flowers similar in style to these drawings.
