California Eating

I like to photograph my food. These are just the things I got pics of. So much good eating done there. I can’t wait to go back!

blurrr

Geez louise the last week has flown by, I can’t even believe that this time last week I was in New Orleans living it up with a couple of my beautiful friends. I guess I have been so busy, I didn’t even notice…here are a few photos from our trip to the cemetery that holds Marie Laveau’s tomb.

we thought this was the grave

I left my mark

and left a rite aid card as a gift

But… it turned out that was not the grave site

the actual grave or at least the one with the official plaque

my new mark...yeah, I messed up and put xox at first haha

the nickel is from moi

leaving the cemetery...I love you NOLA

New York Times does Htown

I was on a plane recently with a gentleman from Los Angeles, though the plane was taking me home to Houston, it was merely a pit stop for him on his way to Belize. He asked me what there was to do in Houston, really I didn’t know how to answer him, tourism isn’t really a huge part of the city.  I simply replied “I enjoy living here, but if I didn’t live here, I don’t think I would come as a tourist.”  Well to Mr. Belize-bound here is a terrific article highlighting Houston’s not-so-boring side.

What happens when Houston loses the tie and jacket.

Sweden! I have slowly come to realize I love alot of  Swedish things. Music, Ikea, the CEO of my job! Yes, all great things. I hear this song in the playlist at work and today I decided I needed to know who it was…

sure enough another lovely Swede; Jens Lekman

I need to go to Sweden, this was confirmed after watching this video. Yes!

the anticipation’s got me blue

Ahhhhhh… So much to do, so little time… and yet, still, I cannot find where to begin. There are so many things I need/want to do. I feel like I am in constant struggle between what I should do, and what I actually do. It’s hard to be stretched so thin, in the end your time is distributed to many places with not much left to yourself. Still, I feel like working this hard is making me more motivated and more creative. I guess it must be the fact that I work well under pressure. I have this secret list of goals I would love to accomplish. I guess it’s like they say, “slow and steady wins the race” I just need to be in the race. Anyway, here’s a little bit of beauty I’d like to share.

This vid made me miss, NY, Steph DT, cafe con leche, and youth. I am _ this close to booking a flight to NY in February. Luckily I haven’t drank that much wine yet lol. I have never vacationed by myself before and I kind of want to. Except getting lost on subways is scary with someone else, imagine alone :/ eeek…

…ok I should get to bed. I am trying to get 90% of my Christmas shopping done tomorrow. I decided instead of giving presents that may or may not be stashed away in a corner forever/ regifted, I will use the money to buy a toy for a child for every person on my list that was getting a crappy gift anyway haha. Giving rules!

Man Oh Man

B and I decided to take a random trip to visit San Antonio, it was pretty low key but there was a tea party involved. If you live in S.A. or are there for some reason make sure and check out Mad Hatter’s; Great little spot. I had a pretty hilarious night last night. Sometimes there is really nothing better than being in good company, talking about crazy shit and laughing till it hurts, or you can’t breathe cause you’re congested. hahaha, thank you San Antonio for being lame enough to keep us home entertaining eachother, and thank you Trenty for introducing me to this “bad bitch” here.

Nicky Minaj

This is, hilarious, smart, refreshing, brilliant. I can’t wait to hear a lot more from this girl, and can we talk about that Barbie piece?!?!?! shiiiiiit

anyhow, I hope you all enjoyed that. I will be going to see “Good Hair” tomorrow, I am SUPER excited about this because it looks like it will be brilliant(apparently I want everything to be brilliant.) and I have been looking forward to this for a hot minute now.

Goodnight for now my loves!

B-aires

I recently found out that my grandfather’s ancestry is traced back to Argentina via Germany, or is the other way around?Anyway, the point is that he was of German blood, but from Argentina, and actually there is a large German population in Argentina. I am Guatemalan, so Argentina is a long way, even from central america. Well, in finding this out I thought it was quite interesting that my grandfather’s last name was Baires; could that be short for Buenos Aires??? As in the capital of Argentina??? Who knows, but coincidentally, I also just fell in love with a line coming straight out of the B-Aires. I think it’s meant to be.
