It’s unbearable. Dreaming of a cool breeze. It seems as if in Texas you can’t escape the heat, however there is the mostly unchartered west Texas. I never knew we had mountains, or towns with little to no humidity. When B and myself trekked 10 hours west to Marfa we were surprised by the freshness, B described the weather as “California-like” I don’t know what that means but by how it felt I’m guessing it means AMAZING. As the days pass by and the merciless sun beams down upon us, I miss west Texas more and more. Also, I was watching “No Country For Old Men” which was partially shot in Marfa. The small town which you can drive through in literally two minutes is actually famous for its art and architecture and mysterious lights(?). I was surprised to find out that people from as far as Japan travel just to see the small town. I must admit, it was not the most exciting trip I have ever taken but it was certainly fulfilling and peaceful, which is more than I can say for other vacations I’ve had. The perfect weather, the small town feel, being able to walk down the street and not fear getting mugged, unchained bicycles, unlocked doors; it was like being on a different planet. My one complaint is that there is nothing open past 10pm, but I suppose that’s a sacrifice you have to make in exchange for peace of mind. It was explained to us that the reason people didn’t have to worry about crime was because 1. The town is so small that everyone basically knows what’s going on all the time, and 2. Because of the town’s proximity to the mexican border, there are thousands of border patrolmen ready to hunt a sucker down if need be. The small town has such a charm that it’s no wonder those who can, have vacation homes there, and a lot of the people we met there, actually left big cities and moved there to set up shop. I would love to spend at least a month there, it seems like the kind of place you could really get a lot done. Any way I’m just missing it and here is a lovely enormous photo I found of the city.

I took some photos on my trip but they aren’t digital and I don’t have a scanner so, sorry. I didn’t get to go to Nola =/ but I am going to Costa Rica in mid/late July so I’m sure I will have a ton of exciting things to blog about there and plenty of beautiful photo ops. Also, my cousin who has an awesome SLR and great photographic eye will be with me so any photos we take will be extra good. I can’t wait. I need a vacation soooo bad.
Getting sleepy now. I actually did something productive today and cleaned my room for the first time since we moved to the house. It was really necessary. I need some good display/storage solutions. Maybe I will blog surf for some good ideas and report back. If all else fails, I always have Ikea.
Goodnight!

As I am sure most of you have heard by now, Michael Jackson passed away. Aside from all the drama in his personal life, this man is legendary for his music; His music, which to most people evokes some spark of a memory, a place, a feeling. To me, Michael Jackson is one of those artists who’s music is “feel good”. I would like to think that in his lifetime MJ achieved what he strived for. His music will always live on. Long Live The King of Pop!
Michael Jackson- “Butterflies” (one of my faves)
I’ve gotten some really good feedback lately from you, the reader. Thank you! It could not have come at a better time. I will do my best to dedicate more time to the blog and update more often. I’ve been going through alot this last week and a half so forgive me. Thanks again for the love.

So hot, I love the chains but I wonder if they would turn my feet green, my skin and metals don’t really get along. These shoes remind me of my 21st B-day. NYC, 90′s themed night at some club in a vintage faux Chanel bomber with chains printed on it and rocking a simple gold chain like the one on these shoes, I also wore the most painful/beautiful shoes imaginable. Maybe these will be good to ring in my 23rd…hmmmm
For sure i would need some of this

Saw an ad for this in Lucky Mag recently and thought HALLELUJAH! Finally someone invented something to help prevent the painful ugly blister situation. Don’t know if it actually works or not but I’m definitely willing to give it a try.

When I grow up I want to be…(November 17, 20o8)

Joy Venturini Bianchi
This classy broad has one of the most awe inspiring eyewear collections I have ever seen. The Frisco socialite owns about 100 pairs and continues to collect. It would be a pleasure and an honor to meet this fabulous lady. I recently discovered this gem of a person while looking through one of my new favorite blogs, advancedstyle.blogspot.com, which shines a light at our stylish elders. As you may conclude from my obvious love of vintage, I have a slight infatuation with history; with that said of course I would love this site.
Another entry I ran across featured this lovely couple
The author raved about this gentleman’s spectacles, which coincidentally happen to be… yes, you guessed it, Cazals!
This particular pair is in our personal collection. = ]

Dear loves,
May I reccomend some leisurely reading…
For me, this is the greatest book on fashion I have read. Ironically the author is not a designer, stylist, or anybody with a career in the fashion industry, he is an anthropologist, which further asserts my belief that fashion, history, and culture are all in the same vein of study. The talented Mr. Polhemus covers the conception of some of our most influential street styles and subcultures (i.e. punk & hip hop) and also that of those not as widely popularized but equally as important and interesting. Not only does he describe the “looks” but he explains how and when they began, who wore them, why they were important, and if any of the other styles were their predecessors and which ones were influenced by each style.
You’re probably thinking “What the hell is she talking about?!”
Just read it!
I bought a used copy from amazon for $12, a new copy would have run me $40. (eeek) If you don’t feel like you can make the commitment to buy it without seeing it first hand, check it out from your local library. Just make sure you turn it in on time, unlike myself, who had the book checked out for over 200 days (according to the librarian) before I turned it back in and decided to get my own copy.
Another great read is an article I read this past summer in the July issue of ELLE Magazine.
